Smart marine propulsion, made in Europe
At Hydromaster, we combine over 60 years of heritage with modern engineering to deliver tailor-made steerable propulsion solutions for today’s maritime world. From our headquarters in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, we design, engineer, and manufacture compact, robust azimuth thrusters, deck-mounted propulsion units and tunnel thrusters trusted by operators worldwide – from inland and coastal vessels to high-speed ferries and offshore vessels. Obviously, all according to the latest rules, regulations, safety prerequisites and sustainability checks.
Our systems support a full range of power configurations – from conventional diesel to hybrid and fully electric – we offer thruster solutions up to 900 kW, including high-speed and deck-mounted variants. Hydromaster propulsion units are built to last, extremely sturdy and easy to maintain.

How we work
We approach every project with the mindset of a partner, not just a supplier. Our core team — including owners Jan Terlouw, Gert-Jan Koolmees, Henk Terlouw, and Steven Linskens — brings over 100 years of combined experience in steerable propulsion, covering every part of the process.

Future-oriented and growth ambitions
Hydromaster has evolved and grown significantly over the years. Since 2015, we have operated under Dutch ownership. We’ve expanded our product range – adapting to changing needs such as hybrid and all-electric applications – modernized production, and evolved into a trusted propulsion partner for vessels owners across the globe.
As part of our international growth strategy, we established a local presence in Singapore in 2019 and recently in North America. With a growing presence and partner network across Europe, North America, and Asia, we continue to invest in the future of smart, reliable marine propulsion – built on expertise and always with a personal touch.
